RAIN STORIES (2018)
On a street in the center of a big city, there is a magical store stopped in time. Its owner, known as “the guardian of rain stories”, receives characters willing to keep their most beautiful, tragic and transformative stories of rainy days. Their memories are literally encapsulated and kept like raindrops, which are revealed in the most homesick, regenerating and magical moments during the narrative.
FROM BAD TO WORSE (2018)
Voltaire de Souza's very short stories started to be published in 1991 - and they never stopped being produced daily. In a parodic tone, in the style of the old sensationalist newspapers, the chronicles bring the influence of Nelson Rodrigues and Dalton Trevisan. Voltaire de Souza's production also resembles vignettes from the Radio Era: at the edges of chronicles and fiction. In this frontier between orality and writing, his texts fit in with the experiments that the Cia. Os Zzzlots have carried out.
ANDAI, DUCK! (2018)
The play examines the perplexities in the face of death - and highlights the process of mourning, making it equivalent, in a metaphor, to a walk through the mother tongue. In this sense, the research is a sequence of previous work by Cia. Os ZZZlots (“Berenice Morre”, 2016), in which the theme of finitude was also explored. In the new edition, inspired by the book “Baleiazzzul” (ed. Hedra, 2013), by Sergio Zlotnic, mourning is linked to the construction of accent-impregnated dictionaries, so to speak; for the legacy that the dear ones leave us is always a singular lexicon to be revisited. The developed language investigation makes use of several dramaturgical schools, from narrativity to lecture / performance.
BLUE WHALE MEAT (2016)
From the book "Baleiazzzul" (ed. Hedra), by Sergio Zlotnic, from 2013, the Cia. Os Zzzlots takes to Satyrianas Festival the dramatic reading of this text. Two years later, the reading became a play on the stage of the Sérgio Cardoso Theater, with the name “andai, duck!”. Synopsis of the book: The book is an allegory of psychoanalytic processes. As such, it is healing and mourning work. Putting several temporalities in check, the research is a test tube in which one seeks to reinvent the language, taking the word muse in a game governed by naive logic. In the wake of these inquiries, theories are constructed and the question of an origin is pushed to the limit.
GOLDEN MOUTH (2015)
Graduation play, the classic text by Nelson Rodrigues, “Golden Mouth” is a feared and megalomaniac figure, who has this nickname because, as he improved his life, he exchanged his perfect teeth for a shiny gold denture. When “Mouth” is murdered, his past is searched by a reporter from a sensationalist newspaper in search of scathing stories. The journalist's source is Dona Guigui, the fickle and passionate ex-lover of the contraventor, a woman who, in the light of her moods, reveals different versions of the same story.
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT´S DREAM (2015)
Graduation montage of the classic play by William Shakespeare, with a modern touch: everything happens on a carnival night with the use of drugs. On a summer night, in a forest, four enamored young people look for and meet each other: Lisandro loves Hermia who loves Lisandro and is loved by Demétrio, who is loved by Helena; later, Demétrio loves Helena, who loves Demétrio and is loved by Lisandro, who is loved by Hermia. The next morning, everything is resolved, and there is a triple wedding, as the Duke of Athens and the Queen of the Amazons are also married. At the party, at the Duke's palace, an amateur samba, written and staged by locals, is presented. In the forest, inhabited by fairies and elves who have their King and Queen, who dispute the custody of an Indian boy, one of the sambistas is under a spell, and the Queen of fairies falls in love with him - with donkey's head an all - and later on fall out of love (and out of spell).
